Getting Around Campus
University Park is a big campus. Traveling to and from classes and other places may take some time. Learn about available transportation services.
Ride the Bus
To get around more quickly, many students ride the CATABUS. The Loop and Link buses are free on campus and conveniently travel throughout campus. CATABUS also travel throughout the local region, including State College, Bellefonte, and surrounding areas, and operate from early morning to late night. Students can ride CATABUS for a reasonable fee. CATABUS tokens can be purchased at the commons desk and at the HUB Information Desk. Download the CATABUS app to track the bus!
Ride Your Bike
Are you more of a bike person than a bus person? University Park and the surrounding community is a bike-friendly campus. Bike racks are located outside of University housing and near academic buildings. With your roommate's permission, you may store your bicycle in your residence hall room or apartment.
Bicycles must be registered and display a current Centre Region registration sticker. You can register your bike at the Parking Office in 1 Eisenhower Parking Deck or at either of the information kiosks on campus. Registration is free. Be sure to have your Penn State id+ Card or valid driver's license with you to register your bicycle.
Skateboards and In-Line Skates
In accordance with University policy, skateboards are not permitted on campus. Wearing of in-line and roller skates is prohibited inside all University buildings.
Upper-class students can enjoy the convenience of parking on campus in one of the residental lots, or in the commuter parking lot. First-year students are not permitted to have cars on campus. Register your vehicle at the Parking Office to get a permit.
