East Food District Kicks Into High Gear

Campus Dining is extending weekend offerings at East Food District starting Saturday, September 14. Offerings are set to include an all-you-care-to-eat brunch, salads, and sandwiches. Pizza and pasta will also be offered throughout the afternoon and as a late-night option.

Beginning Saturday, September 21, Chef's Table will also be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Students are sure to enjoy the wing station each game day.

Jim Meinecke, interim director of Residential Dining, said the East team is excited to offer these changes.

"Based on feedback from our students in the first few weeks of the semester, we wanted to make some immediate changes to better serve their needs," Meinecke said. "We think the additional offerings, as well as the late-night options at the pizza and pasta stations, will be huge hits. Who doesn't want to watch some football while eating buffalo chicken pizza?"

The all-you-care-to-eat brunch will be open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will always include an egg sandwich option and a lunch entree such as a meatball sub. Guests can also enjoy options like an oatmeal bar and salad bar.

The made-to-order salad station will also be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will provide a great healthy option. Guests can top off their salad with a signature hot protein that will rotate from week to week.

At the pasta station, two choices of pasta will be available, as well as cheesy garlic bread. Meanwhile, the pizza station will offer three varieties, including cheese, pepperoni, and buffalo chicken. All options will open at 1 p.m. and extend to 11 p.m. to cover those late-night hunger pangs.

Students can look forward to even more options as the semester goes on, Meinecke said. "This time of year is tricky with staffing, so we want to start these stations slowly and continue to add more items to them as staffing allows."

Flipps will close on the weekends but will continue current Monday-Friday operating hours.
