Edge Coffee Shop Serves Up New Products

Monday, August 27, 2018

Customers at Edge coffee shop in East Food District can expect some changes on the menu--from delicious sandwiches on the go, to tempting bagels, to the latest in cold brew coffee.

Edge is serving up coffee from Irving Farm Coffee Roasters, a small specialty roaster based in New York that focuses on a "farm-to-cup" model and nurturing relationships with coffee farmers throughout the world. The menu includes coffee- and espresso-based drinks, both hot and cold brew. Edge one of a select few to also offer nitro cold brew--a smooth blend infused with nitrogen that creates a smooth, creamy consistency.

For those who want to enjoy a coffee back in their rooms, Edge sells custom-ground coffee by the bag as well as refillable growlers of cold brew that students can put in their refrigerators.

Also new on the menu: seven flavors of bagels from the popular downtown Bagel Crust. Customers can choose from Plain, Cinnamon Raisin, Everything, Wheat, Blueberry, Sesame, and Rainbow--and the next decision will be which of six varieties of house-made cream cheeses will top off those bagels. Other breakfast items include avocado toast and banana toast.

New sandwiches, perfect for a quick lunch on the go, include caprese, roasted vegetable with hummus, and turkey bacon with cranberry aioli - each served on a custom bakery roll and available warm or cold.

For those with a sweet tooth, Edge offers a full line of Penn State Bakery items. Monthly specials will feature maple bacon donuts, s'mores cannolis, and red velvet bundt cake.

Even with all these student-friendly options, Edge isn't just for students. Faculty and staff are welcome to visit the coffee shop, as well as any other retail food operation or dining commons on campus. All these locations conveniently accept LionCash+ as well as Mastercard, Visa, Discover Card, and American Express credit cards.

Convenient, short-term parking is also available for customers of Edge, which is on the first floor of Findlay Commons in East Halls. Any Penn State faculty or staff member with a faculty/staff permit can park in the Orange lots west or north of the Nittany Lion Softball Park (Beard Field), turn on flashers, and run in for a cup of Irving Farm coffee, quick snack, or to-go meal. Cars parked there for up to 15 minutes won't get a parking ticket.

Edge is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
