Geary, McKean, Pennypacker, & Stuart Halls
Geary, McKean, Pennypacker, and Stuart Halls are residence halls that have been renovated to provide students modern amenities and conveniences. Rooms types offered include double- and triple occupancy rooms and supplemental quads. Unlike traditional residence halls though, these buildings offer students private, single-use bathrooms in the hallway area that are shared by the floor. Similar to a home, each bathroom is privately used by one individual. Additional sinks are located near the bathrooms to provide quick, easy use. The ground floor features a living room, kitchen, laundry room, study space, knowledge station, and either a music practice room or a meditation room. Buildings are coed by room (each room is a single-gender, but maybe next to a room of opposite gender).
Geary Hall, built in 1961 and renovated in 2019-2020, was named after John W. Geary, the 16th Governor of Pennsylvania (1867-1873). He was the tallest PA Governor, standing at 6' 5". Geary also sported an unconventional, but fantastic, beard.
McKean Hall, built in 1964 and renovated in 2017-2018, was named after Thomas McKean, the 2nd Governor of Pennsylvania (1799-1808).
Pennypacker Hall, built in 1964 and renovated in 2017-2018, was named after Samuel W. Pennypacker, the 23rd Governor of Pennsylvania (1903-1907).
Stuart Hall, built in 1964 and renovated in 2017-2018, was named after Edwin S. Stuart, the 24th Governor of Pennsylvania (1907-1911).
